Lo que hizo el ex dean de Harvard yéndose a organizar una Universidad de tercera:
BYU-Idaho’s strengths include a low-cost operating model, which derives from (1) faculty focus on undergraduate instruction, (2) year-round operation, and (3) use of online learning technology. A “Learning Model” common to all courses promotes consistent learning quality, even in online offerings. BYU-Idaho’s ongoing challenge is to ensure learning quality by rigorously defining and measuring learning outcomes and continuously improving the curriculum.
Lección para España: las Universidades deberían estandarizar los cursos que ofrecen mucho más de lo que lo hacen. No me refiero entre unas y otras sino en el seno de una Universidad. Y los materiales para dar el curso on-line es una gran oportunidad de hacerlo. E invertir en “involve their students in teaching one another” y ofrecer “a mixture of online and on-campus instruction”. Es decir, asignaturas que se cursan presencialmente y otras que se cursan on-line.
Y más carga docente para los profesores a menos que estén en importantes centros de investigación (lo que no ocurre con el 90 % de las universidades españolas)

A school that generates the bulk of its revenues via tuition will be able to afford some time for faculty research. However, that research will need to have relevance to the student learning experience, and it won’t be the driving factor in tenure decisions; teaching quality will be. Tenure based primarily on publications isn’t a sustainable model for most institutions.
